    The Center for Craft is teaming up with Asheville-based design firm SHELTER to bring a holiday pop-up shop to downtown Asheville, NC Nov 30 – Dec 3, with online offerings Dec 6-10!

    Over 40 designers and makers will be featured in a three-day holiday pop-up shop and five-day online shop featuring unique, limited edition, and one-of-a kind handcrafted goods made by local and national makers as well as exclusive fine art, jewelry, home goods, holiday items, and more.

    In addition to featuring local and national makers and designers, the pop-up will include an exclusive collection of goods by recipients of the Center for Craft’s Windgate Fellowship, one of the most prestigious and sought-after awards for emerging craft artists in America. This collection will include handwoven scarves by Andrea Donnelly (Richmond, VA), glass lamps by Wes Valdez / Blob Blob Studio (Philadelphia, PA), home goods by Nate Moren / Tandem Made (Minneapolis, MN), ceramic work by Rosa Novak (Oakland, CA), and jewelry by Alexandra Perez-Demma (Coronado, CA).

    Study Confirms Affordable Housing and Studio Need for Artists/Creatives in Asheville; Proposes Solutions

    In 2015, The Center for Craft, in partnership with the Asheville Area Chamber of Commerce, commissioned Minneapolis-based Artspace Consulting to conduct a preliminary feasibility assessment and report as the first step towards developing affordable space solutions for artists and the creative sector in Asheville, North Carolina. Artspace Consulting recently submitted their preliminary feasibility assessment findings, which confirm the need for affordable housing and workspaces for artists and creatives.
