CCCD collaborates with many organizations and individuals on its programs. Regionally, CCCD works closely with Warren Wilson College, Haywood Community College, UNC Asheville, Appalachian State University and Western Carolina University to encourage student involvement and participation in our programs. Nationally, CCCD works with museums, universities, artists and other art organizations to offer lectures, panel discussions and exhibitions in Western North Carolina.
Internationally, the CCCD has a partnership with The Craft Studies Centre (CSC), located in Farnham, England and affiliated with The University of Creative Arts. The CSC is a research center with an acclaimed collection including modern and contemporary calligraphy, ceramics, textiles furniture and wood as well as makers' diaries, working notes and photographs dating from the 1920s. The CSC hosts exhibitions and gallery talks and has a resource library.
Motivated by the writings of longtime Craft Horizons Magazine editor Rose Slivka and artist/poet M.C. Richards, The Center for Craft, Creativity & Design (CCCD) presents a challenge for makers and writers: to create a new collaborative work inspired by The Good Making of Good Things: Craft Horizons Magazine, 1941-1979 in just 11 days.
