Southern Folk Artist Documentary
The National Endowment for the Arts Visual Arts Program, in April 2004, awarded the Center for Craft, Creativity and Design, working in collaboration with the Folk Artist's Foundation, $15,000 to edit over 24 hours of documentary into a 58:30 minute PBS quality video featuring the ideas and inspiration of 28 untrained Southern folk artists in their own words. The video and an accompanying curriculum will be distributed through the Southern Arts Federation and accompany the traveling exhibit. NEA Cultural Funding Opportunities Web Resource
Through a cooperative agreement between UNC-Asheville and the NEA, Dian Magie provided the research to update the NEA web based resource, Cultural Funding:Federal Opportunities (www.arts.gov/federal.html). This resource includes a database of over 170 federal programs that fund cultural programs linked to a database of over 250 site examples of how this funding was accessed, most often at the local level. Dian Magie is updating the NEA web resource in 2003-2004 through a $24,000 cooperative agreement with the University of North Carolina at Asheville.
